Trauma-informed, somatic, and depth-oriented therapy for adults in Edmonton and virtually across Canada.

therapy that goes to the root — so momentum becomes possible again

we started Perception because we saw what was missing

Too many people sit in therapy week after week — talking, processing, gaining insight — and still return to the same feelings, the same patterns, the same quiet frustration with themselves. Not because they aren't trying. But because the work never quite reached the part of them that needed to change.

Perception was built for that person. For the adult who feels stuck or low on motivation and can't fully explain why. Who is overwhelmed not by one big thing but by a low hum of heaviness that never fully lifts. Who has done the reading, the self-work, maybe even the therapy — and is ready to go somewhere they haven't been able to go yet.

Our goal isn't to keep you in therapy indefinitely. It's to help you understand yourself deeply enough that you don't need us anymore — at least not for a long time. We do that by going to the root: the attachments, the learned patterns, the intrapersonal dynamics that shape how you move through the world. When those are understood and worked through, things shift. Not by force — but because the thing that was holding you back is finally seen.

built around you — not a framework

There's no single protocol here. No cookie-cutter treatment plan that gets applied regardless of who you are. Our approach is eclectic by design — trauma-informed, somatic, holistic, and depth-oriented — because the people who come to us don't fit neatly into one category, and neither does the work they need to do.

We draw from psychodynamic and psychoanalytic frameworks, CBT, EMDR, somatic experiencing, mindfulness, attachment theory, and creative expression — not all at once, but thoughtfully woven together based on what your nervous system, your history, and your goals actually call for. The body is always part of the conversation. So is the part of you that's been showing up the same way for years without knowing why.

You don't have to fit into our approach. We build the approach around you.

our promises

We actually See You

If you've left therapy before feeling like you talked a lot but nothing really shifted — you're not alone, and it's not your fault. The right therapeutic relationship changes everything.

At Perception, we take the time to understand not just what you're struggling with, but how you came to struggle with it. The history, the patterns, the context. Because that's where the real work is.

strategies that work in real life

We don't hand you a worksheet and call it healing. The tools and insights you build in session are designed to translate into your actual life — your relationships, your nervous system responses, your day-to-day sense of momentum and self. Whether you're navigating a crossroads, plateauing in your growth, or trying to get back to a version of yourself that felt more alive, we build toward something concrete and lasting.

Therapy shouldn't feel like navigating a system. We're upfront about fees, work with most major insurance providers, and do everything we can to make high-quality care accessible. No surprises, no hidden costs — just clear information so you can make the right decision for yourself. Not sure if you're covered? Reach out and we'll help you figure it out.

accessible and trasparent

you’re at the center of it

This isn't something we do to you. Therapy at Perception is collaborative — you set the pace, you shape the direction, and you remain the expert on your own experience. We bring the clinical lens, the tools, and the space. You bring everything else. Together, we figure out what's been in the way — and what moving forward actually looks like for you.
